Personal Progress in Cambodia

One of the great assignments we've had here is to be over the Young Men and Women's programs.  Since the Personal Progress Program has been updated from when I was a leader in the Pasadena Stake, I decided to do it with the girls.  I completed my 8 Value Experiences and Projects.  It has the best list of Scriptures I've ever seen for each value!  So inspiring.  I had fun completing the eight projects.  For Faith I listed all the attributes and qualities of Christ that are mentioned in the Book of Mormon.  Power is mentioned 125 times, mercy 102.  Mercy and power, those are attributes that come from living the Gospel!  Individual Worth's project was learning to play the piano for Sacrament meeting.  I've worked long and hard on that one and can do it with only minor trembling.  I know my mother is proud of me.  For Good Works I brought homemade goodies to each District Meeting for the hungry elders. When I completed this one the elders asked me to continue:-D    Another project was the distribution of ties and toys and school supplies that our granddaughters Alyssa and Emily gathered for Cambodia. So many new converts do not have a tie.  The Primaries have no toys for the nurseries, and children can't afford a pencil or notebook for school.  Here is a picture of the items being organized in our living room.

The items are being well loved and well used by the Saints here.  It was wonderful to see the little ones playing with the toys.  The school children had school supplies to start the year.  And the new converts had a tie to wear to church.   We are so blessed to live in a land of plenty!!

Happy Mother's Day 2012!

Natalie is here with Hayward and her twins so she will help me to blog again.  I've been unsuccessful the last few times I've tried and have almost given up.  She is here to rescue me and reteach me!  I hope the last seven months of our mission will be better reported.

Today there was another baptism.  The branch president had to baptize her three times to get it right.  We took Natalie's family around Sen Sok yesterday to show her our area.  She thought the people so loving among their poverty.  In Sen Sok we saw goats, chickens, dogs, cows, and oxen running around.  There were Khmers in skiffs and sanpans on the lake fishing for their dinner.  The lotus flowers are in bloom and the monsoon rain clouds make the sky spectacular.  We ran into the missionaries at the branch building and visited.  Then saw them again out pedaling their bikes in 100 degree heat among the rice paddies.
